Trinity Fields Satellite Class for Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders

Our satellite class for Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders was originally opened as Pontllanfraith Primary School's Specialist Resource Base in 1996 and became a satellite class for Trinity Fields School and Resource Centre in 2023.

It offers pupils with ASD suitable provision to meet their needs.

It boasts specialist sensory equipment and soft play areas together with small class sizes to ensure pupils get a high level of care.

The class has a high level of expertise as recognised by ESTYN in 2008, 2014 & 2022:

"In the Specialist Resource Base classes, teachers conscientiously and competently modify the curriculum by breaking it down into small achievable steps, suitable for the pupils in their care.

"All adults in the resource base give enormous commitment, energy and care to their roles. They know and manage the pupils well and interact very effectively with them in lessons. They show great pride when pupils make progress and achieve their targets.

"Outstanding features are evident in the very good teamwork, high quality training, and commitment of all staff in the resource base classes.

"Pupils in the Specialist Resource Base, make good and sometimes outstanding progress and they achieve the targets they are set."

"The school provides beneficial support for the pupils that attend the specialist resource bases. Teachers and teaching assistants work well with individual pupils and support them appropriately in line with their individual learning needs. The staff have a positive, caring relationship with the pupils that they support."
