Healthy Snacks

In line with our Healthy Schools Initiative children are encouraged to drink water during the school day. Water fountains are currently out of use but children are encouraged to bring water bottles into the classroom. Please provide your child with a clear sports top bottle (not screw top as these lead to spillages!). Please note that we only allow still water in the classroom – it is only still water that is recommended by health care professionals and sweetened drinks attract insects.

Snacks at Break Time

In order to encourage healthy eating habits, crisps, sweets or chocolates are not allowed.

Snack Time in the Foundation Phase

All children in the Foundation Phase have free milk every day. We encourage the children to try a variety of healthy snacks. We offer a good selection of fruit plus other healthy food options. Although the milk is free, we ask for a donation of £1.50 a week to cover snacks. Please send this into school on a Monday morning in a small envelope marked with your child’s name, class & ‘FRUIT MONEY’.

Snack Time in KS2

You may choose to send your child to school with a healthy snack or they can purchase fresh fruit in school. We also sell any surplus milk that is not needed in the Foundation Phase.  A form to order fruit is sent out on a Thursday and parents are asked to send in money on a Monday. Children should bring cash daily to school if they wish to purchase milk (if it is available).
